OF AN
EARTH HEALING REMEMBERING ALTAR
Through the formation of a simple altar,
made from stones or seeds, in the shape of the Hopi
prayer shield (shown at left), we can begin a process of
embodiment and focalization of consciousness that will serve
to unite each of us with not only our deeper selves, but with
Hopi,
and all other people engaged in the Healing Ceremony For Planet
Earth. Our own altar can become a sacred space where we may bring
our current state of being, and there, unite in consciousness
with other like-mindeds around the planet. The more frequently
we do this, the more frequently will we be consciously connected.
Each of the four major turning-points of the lunation cycle--new
moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter, can be represented
in this way and can be used to synchronize the timing of this
decentralised form of spiritual practice. A few months of regular
attunement in this way, and one begins to realize the power and
beauty of this type of spiritual connection. In a very tangible
way, it helps us manifest the three-fold unification of prayer,
ceremony and the heart called for by Hopi in the first Earth
Healing Ceremony, in 1976.
Not only is one communing with other like-mindeds through this
form of worship; one is also communing with what may be forgotten
aspects of oneself. For example, someone who dwells mainly in
their intellect, may find through this procedure, that their
physical/instinctual body has come to life and that it can help
them to move out of some of the cognitive dilemmas that pure
reason can trap us in. Likewise, someone who has long suppressed
a glimmering heart's desire with layer upon layer of denial,
may suddenly burst to life, animated by a vision of what is possible
for them, and be carried forth on a wave of passion and purpose
long held dormant within them.
Creation of a remembering altar is a direct way of experiencing
how lunation attunement can serve us in our personal lives. You
may find as I have, that from this simple entry into The Healing
Ceremony For Planet Earth, you embark upon a magnificent adventure
in consciousness, an adventure filled with Mystery and the unexpected.
It is an adventure foretold in Hopi prophecy and in the many
prophecies, myths and visions of cultures throughout the planet.
May we, together with Hopi and other peaceful people everywhere,
awaken and begin to co-create the seed-foundations of a new world,
a world where issues of greed, power, and materialism need not
command the focus of collective attention. May we together, abandon
the false concepts of a status-quo mentality far-removed from
the joy of a conscious connection to the Earth, the Moon, the
Sun, and beyond...
