MANY FEATHERS, MANY PRAYERS
Each spring for the past 26 years, I have facilitated some form of celebration of a ceremonial cycle initiated in 1976 by Hopi Indian Elders at Jericho Beach in Vancouver, during Habitat Forum. Called A Healing Ceremony for Planet Earth, this simple event drew together hundreds of people worldwide, in a simultaneous ceremony synchronized by the time of the Full Moon. Inspiringly, it released to the world, the Hopi teaching that through prayer, ceremony, and the heart, we humans can join together in surprisingly simple yet powerful acts, to heal the Earth, as ourselves.
As I discovered during the first Healing Ceremony for Planet Earth, a Full Moon like the one coming up on May 26th, polarizes a Gemini Sun with a Sagitarius Moon. Esoteric astrology indicates that this is humanity's best annual opportunity to make conscious contact with the Spirit of the Earth. For decades, it has been known as World Invocation Day.
As World Invocation Day approaches once again, I invite you to join with me on the day of the next Full Moon, in ceremonial expression of our gratitude to Mother Earth for continuing to sustain us. I am calling this ceremony Many Feathers, Many Prayers. If you wish to attend, I ask that you be prepared to offer to the circle, both a feather (which you are willing to part with), and a prayer suitable to the occasion. Prayer can take innumerable forms, including poetry, song, and dance. Please make your contribution as potent, focused, and brief, as possible, so that everyone in the circle will have ample time to share.
All feathers, and any written prayers, will be gathered into a sacred bundle, to be used in future ceremonies. Please consider this to be an auspicious opportunity for you to share your deepest heartfelt wisdom, not only with those gathered with you here on Cortes Island, but with ALL your relations, seen, unseen, past, present, and future.
DATE & TIME: Sunday May 26, 2002. 7PM.
PLACE: The Twin Stumps at beachside, Squirrel Cove.
WHAT TO BRING: A feather you are willing to part with, and a prayer to Mother Earth.
"May our hearts beat as One with the Heart of the Mother Earth... Ho!"
