A HEALING CEREMONY
FOR
PLANET EARTH
THE NEXT GENERATION
The sustained momentum of two decades
of ceremony known as The Healing Ceremony For Planet Earth, has
created the opportunity to create, and sustain, a synergized
field of consciousness -- a pervasive and generative matrix of
creativity that draws upon both "Heaven" and "Earth"
for its sustenance. This matrix could support substantially new
and unique responses to the many crises of a world in transition
from one mental house, to another, from an industrial world,
into a post-industrial world; from history to post-history. It
could, in fact, be seen to be the vanguard activity of a new
human species.
That species was named by visionary Robert
Boissiere, in his book The Return of Pahana: A Hopi
Myth. In that book, Boissiere explores the emergence of Homo
Spiritus, a species "exhibiting a powerful inclination toward
the spiritual aspects of life, in marked contrast to our present
preoccupation with all things material". Within such a spiritualized
species, the movement toward wholeness and spirituality is entirely
self-chosen. Each person is responsible for his or her intentions,
and for making the lifestyle changes needed to facilitate emergence
of the new world. Every step along the way is seen as important,
just as every phase of a creative process is integral and important
to the whole.
With this in mind, we welcome you to participate in The Healing
Ceremony For Planet Earth, no matter where you live. By ritualizing
our everyday lives so as to be in synch with the changing phases
of the Moon, we can consolidate and synergize, our collective
life-force. This will bring us into even deeper communion with
Spirit than what is offered to us by participation in the annual
Healing Ceremony For Planet Earth.
In its more-than-twenty-year duration, The Healing Ceremony For
Planet Earth has shown that the reality of spiritual unity can
be brought to life in ourselves, our families, our nations. And
if we look to not only the Full Moon, but the lunation cycle,
as a whole, we can see that it provides us with a consistent
and enduring frame of reference for evoking such a unity.
THE LUNATION CYCLE
Every New Moon, Sun and Moon conjoin in the sky and a cosmically-ordered
cycle of unfoldment begins. The complete duration of this cycle,
from New Moon, to New Moon, is what is termed the lunation cycle.
It is a universal process analogous to the growth of a plant
from seed, to shoot, to stem and leaves, to flower, fruit, and
back to seed. A new generation of seed results from each cycle,
as long as the plant is able to persist full cycle.
Each lunation cycle can be seen to be a basic building block
of experience, a discrete unit in an ongoing evolutionary process
sourced by the Sun. That evolutionary process is intimate to
our lives, whether we are aware of it or not, and it can be astrologically
mapped from the moment of our first breath. For not only is the
lunation cycle the smallest and most personal of all the astronomical
cycles we deal with, it is also the most universally applicable.
For, hidden within the lunation cycle's core are principles that
govern all cycles of relationship.
Cycles of relationship are cycles that relate two distinct entities
for a specific length of time, hence we can call such cycles
"wholes of time". Wholes of time reveal themselves
through a process having a beginning, a middle, and an end. The
lunation cycle is the most obvious astronomical analogy to this
cyclic process. It can be a directly-experienced cosmic process
capable of guiding us into deep remembrance of our cosmic origins.
Seen in this way, the lunation cycle is an ordered and measured
process of change which periodically and perenially, returns
to its point of origin: New Moon.
A New Moon occurs every 29.5 days, and
it is at New Moon that the angular separation between Sun and
Moon, as viewed from the Earth, reaches a zero point. New Moon,
therefore, represents a condition of undivided unity and of great
potential energy. The whole rest of the cyclic process lies dormant
and unified within the New Moon state. It is the realm of the
idea. Quantum physicists would call it the apex of quantum potential.
Mystics might refer to it as the Godhead.
As the fundamental frame of reference in a cyclic / holistic
world view, the lunation cycle is unsurpassed. Not only does
it divide an initial unity into a multiplicity of seemingly separate
parts, but it reassembles those parts back into a whole. Because
the Healing Ceremony For Planet Earth is directly aligned with
the lunation cycle, your participation in the ceremony will allow
you to participate ever-more-consciously in this universal impulse
toward wholeness.
