One of the joys of electonic imaging is the ability to shape-shift colors at the tweak of a button. This is a newer generation image of what began as one of my paintings called Descent of the Skywalkers.
DESCENT of the SKYWALKERS

The months leading up to the Gulf War were the months during which I began my painting career. They were intense months, both personally and globally. I found media coverage of the war to be particularly oppressive, especially to the newly-awakened feeling nature I was experiencing as a result of my painting. To my great surprise, however, I found in my artistry, a practical way of transforming those oppressive feelings into vision. This painting resulted from that process.
In the foreground, we see depicted the rubble and chaos reminiscent of the images coming to us over the television at that time. In stark contrast to this rubble, we see in the background, an etheric 7 chakra "light body" human in front of a pyramid, also with seven levels. Each level of the pyramid corresponds to a chakra in the light body and each level contains a hieroglyph from the sacred calendar of the ancient Maya people.
This is meant to reveal that there is an intimate connection between a human being, the sacred calendar, and sacred temple architecture. This is meant to evoke the understanding that the traditional sacred calendar of 20 hieroglyphs and 13 numbers (known as the Tzolkin) can be used to define 20 sacred temples of the spiritual imagination.
Within those temples, what is commonly known as the chakra system, provides a bridge between two distinct realms of consciousness: everyday 3 dimensional consciousness (symbolized by the pyramid), and non-ordinary, other-dimensional realms of consciousness, symbolized by the etheric human "light body" comprising the 7 chakras.
Twenty distinct domains of consciousness are mapped in this unique orientation to the the sacred calendar. I have pioneered this use and have termed it, the Luna-Tzolkin. Each of the 20 sacred temples defines a spiritual path of transformation.
In this image, two of those temples are invoked. On the left, with the pyramid, is the Temple of Thunder. At the base of the pyramid, also on the left side, is the hieroglyph/number combination One Ben. One Ben sets the tone for the qualities associated with this Temple. Those qualities can be roughly termed "skywalking". Skywalking is a shamanic orientation to life as a sacred journey which involves time/space travel, fluid reference points, courage, new directions, mysterious journeys, compassion, and messengers from other realms.
To the right of the Temple of Thunder and the light being depicted there, is another 7 chakra light being with a large "V", grounded in the first chakra and opening upward to another dimension. This is the Temple of the Empowered Human.
An exciting part of what is revealed here is that each of us can be seen to be born within one or another of the twenty possible temples and we can look to the 13 hieroglyphs associated with those temples for clues to our spiritual evolution.
