I am re-creating my sense of self in the world. That sense of self constitutes what David Feinstein, in his book The Mythic Path, calls a personal myth.
As part of my process of creating a new personal myth, I am cultivating a sacred witness, within my psyche, a sacred witness able to sit in the midst of all moment-to-moment conditions, without pre-judgement or expectation.
In support of my inner sacred witness, I intend to embody Four Agreements, as taught by Toltec shaman Don Miguel Ruiz in his book by the same name.
In presenting this intention publicly, I am seeking the support of my community in helping me hold to these self-agreements.
Be impeccable with your word.
I will speak with integrity. I will seek to follow through with what I say I will or will not do. I will avoid gossip and negative self-talk. I will use the power of my word in the direction of truth and love.
Don't take things personally.
I will make every effort to take the broadest view of every situation and issue I encounter. I will withhold pre-judgment and will patiently await the revelation of truth .
Don't make assumptions.
I will find the courage to ask questions and to express what I truly want. I will make every effort to communicate clearly with others so as to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.
Do your best, always.I will consistently strive to bring forward the very best I have to offer.
