THE EARTH HEALING FOUNDATION
The Healing Ceremony for Planet Earth,
begun in 1976, is a globally-synchronized,
co-creative ritual, designed to empower individuals in their
efforts to honor the Earth as our common sacred home.
The Healing Ceremony
for Planet Earth occurs without prescriptive form--all participants
are encouraged to act freely to create a ceremony that aligns
with their particular racial/cultural background. The many local ceremonies are
synchronized through a natural phenomenon accessible to all 
participants:
the Moon. More precisely it is the Full Moon that is used to
determine the timing of the ceremony. This changes from year
to year, but it always occurs in either May or June.
Originators of the ceremony
are elders from the independent sovereign nation known as Hopi. These
elders represent an increasingly small segment of the Hopi nation
who still live primarily by traditional values. They have become
known by their own people as the Traditionalists. Unlike most
of their tribe, these Elderly Elders, some of whom are in their
nineties and beyond, have not succumbed to the overpowering influence
of the Bahanna, the White Man. Instead, they have continued to
live close to the land, in harmony with natural forces, honoring
what has been given to them by the Creator. Their lives have
been guided by a remarkable set of prophecies handed down orally
for centuries. For at least a thousand years, these prophecies
have faithfully revealed to their people, the shape of things
to come. Today, we are being invited to share in this stream
of prophetic insight.
Most simply, what the
prophecies are pointing to now, not only for Hopi, but for all
Humanity, is that a time of Great Purification is at hand, a
purification that will affect every human being on the planet.
And deep within this process, Mankind is being given the opportunity
to alter the destructive course it is taking, and, by a conscious
redirection of priorities, to begin a return to balance, harmony
and respect for all land and life. This, Humanity can do, they
say, if we unite three basic things: prayer, ceremony and the heart. To promote such a unification, through
perpetuation of an annual Healing Ceremony for Planet Earth,
is the purpose of the Earth Healing Foundation at this time.
